It’s been a year now since you won the Style 369 Evans competition. How has it been?

I still can’t fully believe that all of this has happened to me. It’s been a whirlwind. The past nine months have seen me featured in an editorial for Cosmo, shot in beautiful Miami, work with incredible people for the Style 369 campaign, fly out to Germany to shoot for Chalou and be featured in editorials for a number of other magazines.

How does it feel to see yourself in magazines and campaigns?

It’s still a shock! Even yesterday I had to pinch myself when I saw myself in the Evans shop window. It’s still a shock but I’ve loved every second of it, and I can look back and think I’ve also been able to complete my masters’…result!

What has modelling been like?

Scary, but not as scary as I thought it would be… Joe, Nicole, Karen and Elaine have been so amazing. They constantly check I’m ok, encouraging me to ask questions (even when I feel like I’m being a bug) and more importantly, they have made me feel at ease and comfortable with this new job. From castings (which I still find daunting) to jobs, modelling for me, has been very exciting overall.

What is your favourite aspect of being a model?

The feeling of constantly meeting new people and never knowing where it may take you keeps my life refreshing and stimulating. Also, the response from the general public has been incredible. I regularly receive messages of support and encouragement and some messages of how I’ve inspired others, and that makes me feel like I really am making a difference, even if not through the health care sector as I first imagined.

What’s next?

Modelling has allowed me to relax a little, and explore life; discover myself and do things I never thought I would have the confidence to do. So as I sit and reflect, I am anxious to see what the next twelve months will bring; whatever that may be. But right now, I’m keen to enjoy life and celebrate this amazing year.
