Street Style ¦¦ Philomena Kwao
Philomena Kwao shows us how to dress her curves. AS a pear shape all her curves are carried on the lower part of her body. Slim fitted jeans, printed trousers and textures are great ways to show off her fuller figure!

What bodshape are you?
I am an hourglass, which means I have a slim(ish)waist, and equally proportioned hips and bust.
The outfit that you are wearing how do you style it for your body shape?
High-waisted things are my best friends! So I tuck my top into the shorts so my waist is the focus. The top is a little bit sheer too, so you can see my silhouette even though it’s a bit loose. Also, keeping the neckline in a V rather than doing up all the buttons is more flattering.
What key items to do wear to show off your curves?
Skinny jeans. Allllllll the time.
Describe your style in 3 words
It changes daily!
What is your must have style tip?
Experiment! Where there’s a will there’s a way – if you like it, but you don’t think it suits your shape or style, try it with different things: cut a bit off, stick a jacket over the top. Making fashion interesting means we don’t all look the same! I think the most important thing is to wear the things you like – happy girls are the most beautiful.
What are your favourite shops?
I got through phases with shops – I’m a very impatient shopper. At the minute, I love Zara, but I’ve got lots of treats from Topshop recently too. I’m also a big fan of one-offs and vintage shops: Pop Boutique, and Little Red Vintage (Liverpool).
What is your key item for this winter?
Chunky knits! I can’t wait for it to be really cold (I know I’ll regret saying that in about 2 weeks) so I can wear a gorgeous new jumper I bought in maroon – Miss Selfridge about £30. Sometimes, curvy ladies need to be a bit careful with anything too chunky, to avoid looking like the Michelin man, but paired with skinny jeans or leggings, I think it’s a winner.
Heels or flats?
The great debate! Day-to-day I wear flats because I’m already really tall, but I love a good excuse to get a beautiful pair of heels on my feet.
