Nienke shows us how to kick off the new year with some great “Healthy Habits”.
“Back in December I wanted to step up my healthy eating. I already loved my fruits and veggies but still felt I could do better. I started having a daily homemade juice. It’s a great way to get loads of extra nutrients and very easy to do. Since then my skin looks so much better and when I was struck with a heavy cold in December, it only took 4 days to clear up, where normally that would have taken 1 to 2 weeks. I’m a fan!
Anyone can juice. All you need to do is invest in a juicer and load up on some fruit and veggies. I try to buy organic as much as possible and a great place to find affordable options is the farmers market. There are loads around London, check www.lfm.org.uk.
This is a recipe for a juice that really gets you going in the morning. It’s full of nutrients to regenerate, cleanse and strengthen your cells.
Many of my juices are mostly vegetables since fruit is quite high in sugar I only use a little fruit for flavouring. The overall opinion among juicers seems to be: juice your veggies, eat your fruits.
Big handful of spinach
Big handful of Kale
3 Celery sticks
Half a lemon (yellow peel removed, otherwise it’s very bitter, but leave the white, it’s very good for you)
1/4 of pineapple
Wash all your ingredients, push them through the juicer and enjoy!
